Hilarious moment Donald Trump gets spooked by bald eagle named Uncle Sam during photo shoot at his desk
Donald Trump may be surging ahead of the other Republican hopefuls in recent polls, but back in August the presidential hopeful was experiencing some serious competition from a very unlikely contender.
In a photo shoot for Time, Trump agreed to pose with the most American of all animals – the Bald Eagle.
And while in the end he was able to get the perfect picture, the process was a bit more complicated with the bird getting a bit feisty on multiple occasions.
The bird, 27-year-old Uncle Sam, flapped his wings a bit too much while Trump held him on his arm, and then when he sat perched on the billionaire tycoon’s desk appeared to try and bite his hand when he went to reach for the phone.
Trump took it all in stride however, telling the Time team after the shoot; ‘What you will do for a cover – this bird is seriously dangerous but beautiful.’
Photographer Martin Schoeller said after the shoot; ‘Every frame was the same. Mr. Trump knows exactly how he looks, and he strikes one pose and doesn’t move.’
He later said of the other subject, Uncle Sam; ‘He’s very difficult to photograph. f you ask him to look up a little bit, he says no or he just doesn’t do it.
‘He literally has one angle. If I ask him to smile, he puts on a big grin and then he goes back to his Zoolander “blue steel” look.’
Trump was less than thrilled with Time however on Wednesday when he learned he was not named their Person of the Year.
He wrote on Twitter; ‘I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany.’
That person, Chancellor Angela Merkel, is someone who has been widely lauded for allowing Syrian refugees into her country.
Trump meanwhile made international headlines Monday when he said that he would ban all Muslims from entering the United States if elected president.
