US presidential candidate Donald Trump was on the receiving end of a graphic and brutal takedown Wednesday by “South Park,” the longstanding Comedy Central animated series known for its crude language, surreal comedy and social commentary.
During the episode, the controversial cartoon launched an attack on the billionaire-turned-politician and his hardline immigration policies, which ended with Trump being raped to death.
The show mocked Trump’s recent remarks about illegal Mexican immigrants and his proposed plan to curb the flow of undocumented migrants to America by building a wall along the US-Mexico border.
Trump was widely criticized for a June speech in which he said Mexican immigrants to the US were “bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
In the episode, titled “Where My Country Gone,” the fictional town of South Park is swamped by illegal Canadian immigrants, prompting high school teacher Mr. Garrison to launch a political campaign aimed at getting rid of them. When asked what should be done about the illegal immigrants, Garrison replies, “I propose we f*** them all to death.”
Garrison runs for office under the slogan “Where my country gone,” a reference to Trump’s “Make America great again” campaign slogan, holding rallies proposing radical immigration reforms. People in the crowds can be seen carrying banners with Trump’s actual campaign slogans.
Meanwhile, Trump is elected president of Canada, prompting the mass exodus of Canadians to the US fleeing the new conservative leader. As one Canadian explained to a character, Butters, halfway through the episode, the election of the “brash asshole” Trump was the result of a joke gone too far.
“There were several candidates during the Canadian election. One of them was this brash asshole who just spoke his mind. He didn’t really offer any solutions, he just said outrageous things. We just thought he was funny. Nobody ever thought he’d be president. It was a joke! But we just let the joke go on for too long. He kept gaining momentum, and by the time we were ready to say, ‘Let’s get serious now, who should really be President?’ he was already being sworn into office. We weren’t paying attention! We weren’t paying attention!” the tearful man tells Butters.
Garrison then sneaks into Canada with the intent to kill any Canadian in his path – including Trump. He breaks into Trump’s office, where the two wrestle before he fatally rapes him.
Since late July, Trump has consistently been the front-runner in public opinion polls for the Republican Party nomination despite a series of controversial remarks about women, illegal immigrants, gay people and Muslims.
His proposed hardline immigration policies resonate with some of the Republican Party’s most passionate voters, who have long viewed undocumented migration as one of the nation’s most pressing problems.
